Channel Records has announced the release of baroque violinist Rachel Podger's new CD: 'J.S. Bach Cello Suites' (Arr. Solo Violin)'

Channel Records has this week announced the release of acclaimed baroque violinist Rachel Podger's new CD: J.S. Bach Cello Suites' (Arr. Solo Violin).

The disc features the first complete recording of Johann Sebastian Bach's Solo Cello Suites Nos. 1-6, BWV 1007-1012 transcribed for the violin.

''I've loved Bach's Cello Suites for as long as I've known them ... I probably heard them first in the womb and was hence very excited when I realised they could actually be played on the violin ...." Rachel has told The Violin Channel.

"They are completely different from the violin solo sonatas and partitas in terms of intensity, and getting so familiar with the dance forms was a revelation to me ..." she has said.
