It has been announced this week the release of violinist, VC Artist William Hagen‘s debut album: ‘Danse Russe‘.
Recorded with pianist Albert Cano Smit, the disc features Stravinsky’s ‘Suite Italienne‘, ‘Divertimento‘, ‘Chanson Russe‘ and ‘Danse Russe‘ – coupled with Prokofiev’s 2nd Violin Sonata in D Major, Jascha Heifetz’ arrangement of Prokofiev’s ‘March from ‘L’amour des Trois Oranges‘ and Nathan Milstein’s arrangement of Prokofiev’s ‘Tales of an Old Grandmother‘.
”For my debut album, I wanted to record something exciting, something energetic, and I wanted to record music that I absolutely love … and that describes every piece on this album … ” William has this week told The Violin Channel.
“It is extremely dynamic music, and even though most of these pieces are standard repertoire, they feel fresh and exciting to play …” he has said.
”The number one thing I want people to hear is the love that I have for the music … I hope people can hear that I love playing the violin, that I love these pieces – and that I love playing with Albert.”
