The Pacific Symphony, in Orange County, California, United States, has this week announced that Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman will step down from the role – at the conclusion of the 2019-2020 season.

Maestro Kaufman has lead the orchestra’s pop series since 1990.

“Much the way that I curate our classical series, Richard has curated our Pops series, introducing new, innovative and exciting music to Orange County audiences and bringing a stability to the series that other orchestras can only dream about …” Pacific Symphony Music Director Carl St.Clair has said.

“He is a great and supportive colleague … I look forward to continuing my relationship with him as our principal Pops conductor laureate,” he has said.
