The Indiana University-based Pacifica Quartet has announced the appointment of violist Mark Holloway to the ensemble.
He will replace violist Guy Ben-Ziony – who joined the quartet in 2017.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Boston University, Mark has performed with a number of leading orchestras and ensembles – including the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera and as an artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
“A violist sought after in the United States and abroad, Mark brings a great wealth of chamber music experience to the quartet …” the ensemble has told The Violin Channel.
“After a successful first season working together, Guy and the quartet decided that the long-term fit wasn’t quite right and decided to part ways amicably, as friends and musical partners … the quartet had many memorable concerts together, and enjoyed Guy’s beautiful musicianship,” they have said.
The ensemble has served as the Quartet-in-Residence at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music since 2012.
