Philadelphia Orchestra Announce New Section Violin Appointments
The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced the appointment of violinists Yu-Ting Chen and Jeoung-Yin Kim to their Second Violin Section
The Philadelphia Orchestra has today announced the appointment of Taiwanese-born violinist Yu-Ting Chen and South Korean-born violinist Jeoung-Yin Kim to their Second Violin Section.
“It is a tremendous pleasure to welcome these incredibly talented musicians to the Philadelphia Orchestra family …” Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin has said.
“We are always amazed by the skill of the players who audition for these coveted spots ... and are thrilled to have these standout candidates contributing to our signature sound for many years to come,” he has said.
A recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Ida Kavafian and Shmuel Ashkenasi, Yu-Ting was awarded 3rd prize at the 2016 Menuhin Competition, in London.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Jeoung-Yin served as Assistant Concertmaster of both the Curtis Symphony and Juilliard Orchestra during her studies.
It has also been announced that American double bassist Nathaniel West will join the orchestra's bass section at the start of the upcoming season.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Harold Robinson and Edgar Meyer, Nathaniel has served previously as Guest Principal Double Bassist with the Atlanta and Toronto Symphony Orchestras.
