Prizes Awarded at Indiana’s Annual Fischoff Chamber Music Competition
The Milton Quartet has been awarded the Grand Prize at the 2017 44th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition
The Montreal-based Milton String Quartet has been awarded the Grand Prize and Senior String Division Gold Medal at the 2017 44th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition - at the University of Notre Dame, in South Bend, Indiana, USA.
The ensemble, comprising violinist Roman Fraser and Maithéna Girault, violist Evan Robinson and cellist Joshua Morris currently study at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.
The quartet will receive US $13,500 - plus a number of important performance opportunities.
2nd and 3rd prizes in the Senior Division were awarded to VC Artists Notos Quartet - and the Ivani Quartet.
1st Prize in the Junior Division was awarded to Quartet Bellezza.
This year’s string jury comprised: Julie Rosenfeld, Rhonda Rider, James Dunham and Anne Epperson.
Since its founding in 1973, more than 6600 musicians have participated in the annual competition - including former 1st prize recipients VC Artists Calidore Quartet and the Dover Quartet.
