Israeli-born American violist Rami Solomonow has passed away from leukemia - aged 68
Israeli-born American violist Rami Solomonow has passed away from leukemia, in Bangor, Maine - aged 68.
A graduate of the Rubin Academy and Northern Illinois University, where he studied with Oedoen Partos and Shmuel Ashkenasi, Mr Solomonow served orchestral positions with the Israel Chamber Orchestra and Chicago’s Lyric Opera Orchestra - and was a founding member of the Chicago String Quartet.
He held a longtime teaching professorship on faculty at Chicago's DePaul University School of Music.
