The conference, which celebrates the organization's 50th anniversary, will be held from January 2 to 5, 2025
The International Conductors Guild (ICG) has opened registration for its upcoming conference in celebration of its 50th anniversary in London.
From January 2 to 5, 2025, the conference will feature lectures, insight into the world of conducting, a chance to engage with new works, a visit to the Royal College of Music Library, Archives, and Museum of Ancient Instruments, and the opportunity to hear a keynote speaker.
In addition, four of the conference delegates will be selected for the opportunity to take part in a workshop led by the renowned UK conductor Mark Wigglesworth.
Lectures and talks will include speakers such as Hildegard Schon, Jon Mitchell, Carolyn Watson, Lauren Reynolds, Nicholas Palmer, Cynthia Katsarelis, Edward Cumming, Yunn-Shan Ma, Paul Richard Jenkins, Michael Mishra, and Richard Brunson.
Focusing on the art and the craft of conducting, the ICG currently has around 1,100 members. It is concerned with practical problems encountered within the profession, with repertoire, and with the multiple roles that Music Directors must fulfill in orchestras, choruses, opera and ballet companies, wind ensembles, bands, musical theater, and other instrumental and vocal ensembles, whether these are professional or amateur.
The Guild aims to connect conductors across all levels of the profession to share knowledge and information. It also publishes a scholarly journal and hosts an online platform that publishes various conducting opportunities.
