Robert Spano Renews Contract at the Fort Worth Symphony
Spano, who was first appointed in 2022, will stay on until at least the 2030/31 season
Conductor Robert Spano has received a contract extension as Music Director of the Fort Worth Symphony and will remain in the post until at least the conclusion of the 2030/31 season. The tenth Music Director in the orchestra's history, he was first appointed in 2022.
In the same announcement, the orchestra revealed that Dame Jane Glover has been named Principal Guest Conductor for a three-year term, beginning with the 2025/26 season.
A conductor, pianist, composer, and teacher, Robert Spano was recently named as the incoming Music Director of the Washington National Opera. Since 2011, he has been Music Director of the Aspen Music Festival, and he also directs its Aspen Conducting Academy.
Spano spent twenty seasons at the helm of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, where he now holds the title of Music Director Emeritus. He became Principal Conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School in 2024, and in 2025/26 he will become Principal Guest Conductor when the orchestra appoints a new Music Director.
"It’s a joy to collaborate with the exceptional musicians of the FWSO and to bring innovative programming to Bass Hall," Spano said. "The future is bright for our orchestra and community."
