Soviet-Russian balalaika virtuoso Mikhail Fedorovich Rozhkov has died in Moscow – aged 99

Soviet-Russian balalaika virtuoso Mikhail Fedorovich Rozhkov has died in Moscow – aged 99.

A graduate of the M.P. Musorgskogo School of Music, Mr Rozhkov was widely recognized as the world's eminent performer of the traditional Russian 3-stringed instrument.

He appeared in a number of television musical films, including the 2006 film "Life is Beautiful", directed by film maker Vyacheslav Orekhov - and dedicated in his honour.

Our condolences are with Mr Rozhkov's family, friends, students and colleagues.
