Russian violinist Dmitri Kogan has passed away from lymphatic cancer - aged just 38

Russian violinist Dmitri Kogan has passed away from lymphatic cancer - aged just 38.

A graduate of the Moscow Central Music School and the Sibelius Academy, where he studied with Igor Bezrodny and Tuomas Haapanen, Dmitri served as Artistic Director of the Moscow Camerata Chamber Orchestra and the International Kogan Festival.

He was the grandson of celebrated violinists Leonid Kogan and Elizabeth Gilels - and the son of violinist and conductor Pavel Kogan.
