Semi-Finalists Announced at New Zealand’s Michael Hill International Violin Comp
The 6 Semi-Finalists have been announced at the 2017 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, in Queenstown, New Zealand
The 6 Semi-Finalists have, just minutes ago, been announced at the 2017 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, in Queenstown, New Zealand.
This 2017 Semi-Finalists are:
- Benjamin Baker (New Zealand)
- Ioana Cristina Goicea (Romania)
- Luke Hsu (USA)
- Kunwha Lee (South Korea)
- Sumina Studer (Switzerland)
- Olga Sroubkova (Czech Republic)
Olga Sroubkova from the Czech Republic was awarded the NZ $2000 cash prize for the best performance of the New Zealand commissioned work - ‘On an Imaginary Folk Song’ by Karlo Margetic.
For the Semi-Final stage, each of the 6 candidates will lead a Mozart Piano Quintet – with 3 candidates to progress to the Final round on June 10th at the Auckland Town Hall.
The 2017 winner will receive NZ $40,000 (US $31,000), a recording on the Atoll label, an intensive New Zealand and Australia performance tour, a custom-designed suit or gown – and a personalised professional career development programme.
