Chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, Daniel Froschauer, shared, “Riccardo Muti has held an exceptional position in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic for over fifty years. An honorary member of the orchestra since 2011, Muti has helped shape the repertoire and specific sound of the ensemble in a unique manner.”
Broadcast to over 90 countries worldwide, the concert featured repertoire from the Strauss family and their contemporaries. For the first time, a work by a female composer was included — twelve-year-old Constanze Geiger's composition, Ferdinandus-Walzer.
Vienna Philharmonic's tradition of presenting New Year's Concerts began in 1941 and has continued since. 2025's program included works by Johann Strauss I, Josef Strauss, Johann Strauss II, Eduard Strauss, Joseph Hellmesberger II, and Constanze Geiger.
Maestro Riccardo Muti has collaborated with the Vienna Philharmonic since 1971, presenting more than 500 concerts including New Year's Concerts, Philharmonic subscription concerts, memorial concerts, guest performances, tours, and opera productions.
