Special Concert to Honor Cellist Lynn Harrell
The performance will celebrate the life of the American cellist who passed away last year, to be held on September 21, 2021 in Los Angeles
This celebratory tribute was organized by Lynn Harrell’s widow, violinist Helen Nightengale, and the newly formed Lynn Harrell Foundation.
Titled “Lynn Harrell: In Remembrance,” the concert will be held at Royce Hall on the University of California, Los Angeles campus (UCLA) — with John Williams, William Ross, and Samuel Cristler as musical directors.
The live performance will feature Grammy award-winning and nominated artists such as violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, soprano Christine Brewer, and baritone Rodney Gilfry.
Pianist Yefim Bronfman will also be featured by way of video, plus musicians based in Los Angeles with whom Harrell had mentored and collaborated.
The proceeds from the concert will go to the Lynn Harrell Foundation, supporting emerging talent in the classical music industry in the areas of education, research, performances, and individual artist development.
Tickets for the performance range from $18 for students, to $90 for the general public, and $486 for patrons. They can be purchased here.
