A valuable Gaetano Sgarbotto violin, bow and case have been stolen in Washington DC, United States.
The 1936 instrument is described as orange-brown in colour – with a two piece pine top and two piece flamed maple back.
The octagonal bow, also in the case at the time, was crafted by Benoit Rolland – and is inscribed with the serial number #983.
The oblong canvas blue case was constructed by M.A. Gordge.
The instrument, case and bows were stolen in the early hours of April 13, 2015 near the Ritz Carlton hotel, in Georgetown, Washington DC, USA.
