Prizes Awarded at Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition

20 year old British violist, Timothy Ridout has been awarded 1st prize at the 12th Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition – on the Isle of Man.
A student at London’s Royal Academy of Music, Timothy will receive £7,000 (US $10,000), a London recital and a viola bow – courtesy of Bishop Instruments and Bows.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Manuel Vioque-Judde, from France and Wenhong Luo, from China.
Timothy is a former major prize winner at the Cecil Aronowitz, Johannes Brahms and Max Rostal International Viola Competitions.
Founded in 1980 and dedicated to British viola virtuoso, Lionel Tertis, this year’s jury comprised: Yuri Bashmet, George Caird, Wing Ho, Garth Knox and Thomas Riebl.
