María’s involvement in thisrecording follows her winning first prize at the 7th “Getting to Carnegie” Competition in 2021, which saw four finalists each play one movement of Gargiulo’s Sonata No. 4.
The sonata’s title “From the Window,” references a time “when it was only by looking through one’s window that connections could be formed and togetherness felt.”
María and Gargiulo’s full performance of the work is available to watch on DG’s STAGE+ classical music streaming platform, here. This performance was filmed in Vienna’s Ehrbar Saal concert venue.
