We’re coming to you LIVE from Brunswick, Maine, for a special concert presented by the Bowdoin International Music Festival, featuring the Jupiter String Quartet.
The Jupiter String Quartet - comprising of violinists Nelson Lee, Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel, and cellist Daniel McDonough - is a particularly intimate group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (Meg’s older sister), and cellist Daniel McDonough (Meg’s husband, Liz’s brother-in-law). Founded in 2001, this tight-knit ensemble is firmly established as an important voice in the world of chamber music, and exudes an energy that is at once friendly, knowledgeable, and adventurous.
The festival was founded in 1964 and engages exceptional students and enthusiastic audiences through world-class education and performances. Each summer, 250 students from more than 20 countries and nearly every state attend the festival to study with distinguished faculty and guest artists.
