We're coming to you LIVE from New York, NY, for a special string quartet concert celebrating talented women luthiers presented by Reuning & Son Violins, showcasing the artisanship of their instruments.
The event is part of the second Celebrating Women Luthiers International Exhibit that is currently underway. The exhibition recently traveled to Potter Violins in Washington, D.C . between May 3 and 11, is now hosted by Reuning & Son Violins in New York from June 3 to June 9, and then will be hosted at Sapp Violins in Batavia, Illinois from July 13 to 19.
The event celebrate the contributions that women make to the world of lutherie, highlighting the often overlooked craft of female luthiers from all over the world.
The performing string quartet consists of members from Boston-based string ensemble A Far Cry, which includes violinists Lilit Hartunian, Annie Rabbat, violist Ashleigh Gordon, and cellist Francesca McNeeley. Together, they will be performing works by Shelley Washington, Florence Price, Caroline Shaw, Amy Beach, and Jessie Montgomery.
