VC ‘Young Artist’ Harriet Krijgh Appointed Artistic Director of Utrecht Festival

It has been announced today that 24 year old VC ‘Young Artist’, cellist Harriet Krijgh has been appointed as the new Artistic Director of the International Chamber Music Festival in Utrecht.

The festival, hosted from June 29th to July 3rd this year, was founded in 2003 by violin virtuoso Janine Jansen.

‘I have thought about it at length, but after 13 wonderful years it is time to pass the baton to a younger generation,’ Janine, 38 has said, ‘… I have realised a dream come true with this festival, which I will miss terribly. The great atmosphere, the adrenaline, the fantastic audiences. But I want to hand over my festival when it’s flourishing.’

The 2016 festival will feature performances by both Harriet and Janine – and appearances by Ian Bostridge, Martin Fröst, Eldar Nebolsin, Boris Brovtsyn, Lawrence Power, Amihai Grosz, Torleif Thedéen, Steven Isserlis and Jens Peter Maintz.
