The Boston-based Merz Trio has in recent years firmly established themselves as one of the most promising young chamber music ensembles to emerge internationally.
Comprising violinist Brigid Coleridge, cellist Julia Yang and pianist Lee Dionne, the Merz are former 1st prize winners at the Fischoff and Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competitions – and were awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, in New York City.
The Merz Trio is committed to expanding the trio repertory through their own arrangements of familiar and forgotten works and through thoughtfully curated programming that often take them outside of the concert hall – including a recent project with an original recital-theatre piece ‘Those Secret Eyes’ based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Their upcoming performances include debuts at the Concertgebouw, in Amsterdam, New York’s Merkin Hall, and Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
The Merz currently serve as the Professional Trio-in-Residence at the New England Conservatory.
