Ondine Records has announced the release of Latvian violin virtuoso Baiba Skride's new album: Heino Eller.
Recorded with conductor Olari Elts and the Estonian National Symphony, the new disc features 20th Century Estonian composer Heino Eller's (1887-1970) Violin Concerto in B Minor, Symphonic Legend, Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra - and Symphony No. 2.
"I feel strongly that as interpreters we have a duty not only to the standard repertoire but to also bring contemporary and forgotten works to our audiences ... " the 37-year-old former Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition 1st prize winner has told The Violin Channel.
"I've always been fascinated by unknown and buried works ... when Olari asked me if I would be interested in taking a look at Heino Eller's Violin Concerto, I was instantly intrigued - and felt an immediate connection to the piece ..." she has said.
"I feel proud to be a part of this journey to bring this magnificent composer's legacy back to international audiences."
