Concertmaster Named at Staatskapelle Dresden's Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy
Young German violinist Charlotte Thiele is one of 18 players selected for the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy
The Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy has run in tandem with the Staatskapelle Dresden for almost all of the ensemble's history. The academy currently has training positions for 18 musicians, and the scholarship holders perform in 15 concerts per month. They also receive four hours' tuition per month from a player in the orchestra.
The young German violinist Charlotte Thiele will return to her hometown for the 2023/24 season and serve as the concertmaster of the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy.
Born in 2000 into a musical family, Thiele is presently studying at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Prof. Friedemann Eichhorn and Sönke Reger.
Thiele has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Staatsoperette Dresden, the Philharmonischen Kammerorchester Dresden and the Magdeburgischen Philharmonie. In 2017, she gave the premiere of a concerto by Cya Bazzaz (of which she was the dedicatee) with the MDR-Sinfonieorchester.
"[I am] super excited for this new chapter, playing wonderful music with great colleagues (like my brother Friedrich) and spending more time in my beautiful hometown again," Thiele wrote on social media. "I am especially grateful to my teacher, Friedemann Eichhorn, for the inspiring lessons and continuous preparation."
