Hungarian violinist and composer Zoltán Székely died on this day in 2001 – aged 97.

He is remembered for having given the world premiere of Bartók’s 2nd Violin Concerto – and for his popular violin and piano transcription of Bartók’s ‘Romanian Folk Dances’.
