Violinist Corinne Chapelle has Died, Age 45

The French-American violinist sadly lost her battle to a rare form of cancer

A student of Yehudi Menuhin at the Menuhin School, Chapelle subsequently studied at the Juilliard School, and in New York, with Pinchas Zuckerman.

Throughout her life, Chapelle won many awards for her esteemed career as a virtuosic violinist. First prizes include the Jascha Heifetz Award, Julius Stulberg International String Competition, and the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Award. She performed with ensembles such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Cologne Chamber Orchestra, and Prague Chamber Orchestra.

She has also performed with the Shanghai and Beijing Philharmonics, premiering the Barber Violin Concerto in Beijing.

Months ago, a campaign was launched in hopes of getting the money to help pay for the large expenses her oncology appointments and cancer treatments posed. Nichola Benedetti along with other artists promoted the campaign, a testament to how loved and supported she was in her life.

We offer our condolences to Chapelle's husband David, 6-year old daughter Leila, family, friends, and colleagues.
