Swiss violinist Hansheinz Schneeberger has passed away - aged 93

Swiss violinist Hansheinz Schneeberger has passed away - aged 93.

A graduate of the Berlin Conservatoire, where he studied of Walter Kägi, Mr Schneeberger served as long time Concertmaster of the Hamburg NDR Symphony - and held a Professorship on faculty at the Basel Conservatoire.

He will be remembered in history for having, in 1958, given the world premiere performance of Bartok's 1st Violin Concerto.

Our condolences are with Mr Schneeberger's family, friends, colleagues and students.
