Scottish-born violin virtuoso Henri Temianka was born on this day in 1906.

A student of Jules Boucherit and Carl Flesch, he was awarded 3rd prize at the 1935 Wieniawski International Violin Competition – behind luminaries Ginette Neveu and David Oistrakh
