With the 2018 il Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition currently entering its final stages in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, VC recently caught up with a number of former prize winners, to get a better understanding of their time at the competition – and the opportunities the annual event has since presented.
In a VC-exclusive blog, 13-year-old violinist and former prize winner Hina Khuong-Huu, talks us through her 2017 experience:
“I believe that the Il PVM competition has been bringing a love and passion for music to the charming town of San Vito al Tagliamento.
For me this competition, in many ways, prepared me for all the challenges and obstacles that we go through, not only as a candidate in a competition but as a musician.
Not only was it a great experience to be given the opportunity to play with an orchestra twice, but it was also a pleasure to get to meet other young violinists from all around the world.
The organizers of the competition were extremely kind during our time there and even invited us back this May to play with their orchestra!
The warmth of the people is San Vito and their enthusiasm for music are exceptional.
I think that it is a very special and unique event that brings together young artists who share a love for music.
I have no doubt that this year candidates had a wonderful time at Il PVM in San Vito Al Tagliamento.
Additionally, I would like to thank the founder, Domenico Mason, the conductors and orchestras, the judges and the team of the competition for giving us such an amazing experience.
