London’s Royal Academy of Music has announced the appointment of violinist James Ehnes to the role of 'Visiting Professor of Violin' - effective from the 15th June 2017.
‘James has become a much-valued friend to the Strings Department over recent years …’ Academy Head of Strings Jo Cole has said.
“I am thrilled that this warm relationship can be recognised with a title, and look forward to continued years of hugely enjoyable and rewarding meetings and classes ... ” she has said.
James joins a number of leading visiting professors appointed by the Academy - including Steven Isserlis, John Adams, Christian Thielemann and Mark Elder.
His first official role with the school will be a public masterclass with students on the 15th June - which will be broadcast live on the Academy’s Facebook page.
