Violinist Linus Roth and Guitarist Petrit Çeku's New Album, "Vivaldi: The 4 Seasons for Violin and Guitar"
Released on Evil Penguin Records Classic, the album features an original arrangement of The Four Seasons for violin and guitar
Violinist Linus Roth and guitarist Petrit Çeku have released a world premiere recording of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, featuring their own arrangement for violin and guitar on Evil Penguin Records Classic.
One of the most beloved classical music repertoire, the duo reimagines the work that was originally composed for a string ensemble and soloist, premiering in 1725.
The Four Seasons has been adapted into many arrangements for various ensembles; however, the collaboration between award-winning German violinist Linus Roth — who is currently a Professor of Violin at the ‘Leopold-Mozart-Zentrum’ at Augsburg University — and Albanian guitarist Petrit Çeku — who currently teaches at The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in Austria — brings a fresh and intimate arrangement for the violin and guitar.
Linus shared, "The timeless brilliance of The Four Seasons made it a natural choice for my Festival Ibiza Conciertos. However, due to budget constraints, we couldn’t include a full orchestra, the festival had focused on chamber ensembles. This led to the creative solution of performing The Four Seasons with guitar instead of an orchestra, turning it into a unique chamber music piece."
In addition to The Four Seasons, the tracklist also includes Corelli's Sonata Op. 5 No. 12 in G-minor, "La Folia," which was first published in 1700.
