A student of Carl Flesch, he served as Concertmaster of the Dresden and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras and held teaching positions at Yale University, The Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music and the Manhattan School of Music

Polish-born American violinist and conductor Szymon Goldberg was born on this day in 1909.
