Chinese-born violinist and violist Xi Yang has passed away from colon cancer – aged just 56.
A graduate of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with James Buswell, Nelli Shkolnikova, Josef Gingold and Rostislav Dubinsky, Mr Yang served as Principal Viola with the Florida Grand Opera, Symphony of Americas and the Carolina Philharmonia – and as Concertmaster of the North Carolina’s Raleigh Symphony.
He also held a long term teaching Professorship on faculty at the Meredith College School of Music.
Our condolences are with Mr Yang’s family, friends, colleagues and students.
