Violist Noémie Bialobroda Appointed to Faculty at Lyon Conservatoire
The French violist and contemporary-music specialist has also taught in Geneva and Lausanne
The French violist Noémie Bialobroda will join the viola faculty at France's Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Dance Lyon (CNSMD Lyon) from January 6, 2025. She will be joined by fellow violist Emmanuel François, as well as assistants Dominique Miton and Nicolas Mouret.
Originally from Paris, Bialobroda studied with Nobuko Imai and Miguel Da Silva at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève and with Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
She has won prizes and scholarships from the Beethoven International Viola Competition (2010), the Fondation Hirschmann (Switzerland), and the Fondation Meyer (France).
Bialobroda has a particular focus on performing new music, and works regularly with Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt and IRCAM in Paris. She is the dedicatee of two new commissions for viola and electronics, both of which she premiered at IRCAM.
An experienced pedagogue, Bialobroda has taught at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève since 2010 and in the pre-college department of the Conservatoire de Lausanne since 2014. In 2021, she became the coordinator of chamber music in Lausanne, and she is also the founder of the Geneva International String Academy.
"I am extremely happy and honored to announce my engagement as a viola professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon!" Bialobroda wrote on social media.
"It is with enthusiasm and humility that I take on this new responsibility. I look forward to joining this magnificent team of professors and putting all my energy into training the new generation of violists!"
