Conductor Vladimir Jurowski Announced as Bavarian State Opera’s New Music Director

The Bavarian State Opera, in Munich, Germany, has today announced the appointment of 45 year old Russian conductor Vladimir Jurowski as their new Music Director – effective from the commencement of the 2020-2021 season.

A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Maestro Jurowski currently serves as Music Director of the London Philharmonic – and as Chief Conductor of the Berlin Radio Symphony.

He will succeed conductor Kirill Petrenko – who will commence his new position as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in August this year.

The Bavarian State Opera has also announced Belgian impresario Serge Dorny as their new Artistic Director.
