Applications are now open for the 2020 Youth Music Culture Guangdong Festival
Applications are now open for the 2020 Youth Music Culture Guangdong Festival – set to be held in Guangzhou, China from the 10th to the 18th of January, 2020.
Open to musicians of any nationality aged between 18 and 35, the 2020 festival, to directed by superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma, will focus on the music of Bach and on outreach initiatives within the local Guangdong community.
"Through education, we plant seeds, and we will harvest ideas, concepts and relationships in the future …" YMCG Chairman, conductor Long Yu has this week said.
"This generation will do better than us ... people must learn to listen to each other and music is one way to learn to listen,” he has said.
Students will participate in lectures, masterclasses and chamber music readings.
This year’s string faculty is set to include cellist Mike Block, violist Hsin-Yun Huang - and the Brooklyn Rider Quartet.
