1740 Violin Stolen from a Pub in London
The stolen instrument is believed to be worth more than £150,000
A member of London's Philharmonic Orchestra reported their violin stolen from The Marquess Tavern on Canonbury Street, Islington, in February. The instrument was made in Florence in 1740 and is said to be worth more than £150,000.
The Metropolitan Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to help find potential suspects. One of the officers in Camden released a statement that read: “We’ve been working hard to try and locate the suspect and are releasing this CCTV in an effort to help identify them as soon as possible.
“It is incredibly precious, and for the victim, it’s priceless.
“Please help us find the person responsible and have the violin returned to its rightful owner.”
The theft can be seen in a recently released video, with a person in black clothes and a tan trench coat leaving the pub with the violin case.
