Prize Winners Announced at Japan's Tokyo International Viola Competition

29-year-old Luosha Fang, from China, has been awarded 1st prize at the 4th 2018 Tokyo International Viola Competition, in Tokyo, Japan.
A violin graduate from the Curtis Institute of Music, and current viola student of competition jury President, Nobuko Imai at the Reina Sofía School of Music, Luosha is a former 1st prize winner at the Astral Artists National Auditions.
Luosha will receive 1,000,000 JPY (US $9,000) and a viola de' amore fine instrument - plus a number of important performance opportunities.
Joint-2nd prize was awarded to Sejune Kim from South Korea and VC Young Artist Ziyu Shen from China.
The 2018 jury comprised: Nobuko Imai (President), Antoine Tamestit (Vice President), Hariolf Schlichtig, Pamela Frank and Ichiro Nodaira.
Previous 1st prize winners include: VC Artist Sergey Malov.
