Finland's 2020 Sibelius International Violin Competition Postponed to 2022
The 2020 Sibelius International Violin Competition has been postponed to 2022 – due to the growing uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus
It has been announced today that the 2020 Sibelius International Violin Competition, scheduled to take from the 22nd of November to the 3rd of December, in Helsinki, Finland, has been postponed – due to the growing uncertainty of the COVID-19 virus.
The competition will now take place from the 18th to the 29th of May, 2022 - and for fairness, candidates born in or after 1990 may apply for 2022.
“The safety and health of our competitors, their local hosts, the numerous musicians and staff involved and of course our audience is of utmost importance to us ... we are very grateful to everyone involved in organising the competition and to our sponsors for joining us in building this magnificent competition again in 202,” Competition Chairman Lauri Ratia has today said.
