American violinist and conductor Sidney Rothstein has passed away - aged 80

American violinist and conductor Sidney Rothstein has passed away - aged 80.

A student of Pierre Monteaux, Mr Rothstein served principal conducting roles with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, Charleston Symphony, Reading Symphony, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Florida Symphony and the Ridgefield Connecticut Symphony Orchestra.

“The legacy he left all these ensembles was one of incredibly high musicality and artistry ... ” West Virginia Symphony Orchestra President Joe Tackett has said.

Our condolences are with Mr Rothstein’s family, friends, colleagues and students.
