American Violinist Alexander Paul DePue has Died in a Car Accident

As reported by his youngest brother Zachary, American violinist Alexander Paul DePue tragically had a heart attack at the wheel while in Mexico.

Born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, DePue was one of four musical brothers. Throughout their childhoods, they played together in the DePue Brothers Band, which was directed by their father Dr. Wallace DePue Sr — then a composition professor at Bowling Green State University.

DePue managed to maintain dual careers as a classical violinist and bluegrass fiddler, and also found time to play rock music on a range of other instruments. He made his concerto debut with the Bowling Green State University Symphony aged 10, and was concertmaster of the National Guild Youth Symphony Orchestra by the age of 14. Alongside his classical training .he remained committed to fiddling, and held the title of Michigan State Fiddling Champion between 1994 and 1998.

At the time of his death, DePue had only recently married his wife, Aria Curzon DePue, in August 2021.

"It is with extreme sadness that we must report to you all that our second-born brother, Alexander Paul DePue, passed away from an automobile accident early this morning in Mexico," the DePue Brothers wrote in a statement.

"He was 49. He was certainly the 'rock star' of our family and he lived life to the fullest by the day, the way he wanted to live it. He was his own boss, and we've always respected him for that. So, please keep him and his newlywed wife, Aria Curzon DePue, in your thoughts and prayers."
