Ana Papakhian Named Executive Director of Camerata Pacifica
Papakhian has previously held positions with the Music Academy of the West, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony
The Camerata Pacifica is an innovative chamber music organization that presents a concert series in four cities in southern California.
Its newest Executive Director, Ana Papakhian has held key roles at several prominent organizations — including the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for the Music Academy of the West, as well as the Director of Communications for The Cleveland Orchestra and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
Originally a lyric soprano, Papakhian received her bachelor's and master's degrees in vocal performance from Indiana University and appeared in the New Orleans Opera in the early part of her career.
"My laser vision is on fundraising to support these incredible musicians," Papakhian told The Montecito Journal of her primary focus for the organization. "When they are playing chamber music with artists they connect with, there is nothing more spectacular. It’s a feeling you’ll never get from watching your phone – the sound waves in the room and being with other people – it’s in some ways a spiritual experience. We need more wonder and awe in the world to uplift us and set our imaginations on fire."
Founded by Artistic Director Adrian Spence, Camerata Pacifica prioritizes innovative programming, often commissioning new works. The organization also runs several travel experiences for its audiences. A jewel in Camerata Pacifica's crown is The Nightingale Channel, a digital streaming service designed to bring chamber music performances to those who are in hospital.
