Applications Closing for Colburn School's 2024 Sounding Point Academy
Based in Los Angeles, the two week program will close its applications on March 31
The Sounding Point Academy, founded by Robert Lipsett and Fabiola Kim, serves to nurture the next generation of soloists, chamber musicians, orchestral musicians, and pedagogies. The program will take place at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, California, from June 3 – 15, 2024. Applications should be received by 5 PM (PT) on March 31, 2024.
This year's faculty members will include Robert Lipsett, Fabiola Kim, David Halen, Danielle Belen, Eugene Watanabe, and Simon James.
Guest artist appearances will be made by Endre Granat, Nathan Cole, Blake Pouliot, and Debby Devine.
The program will cover all facets of violin playing — including masterclasses with world-leading artists, lessons, orchestra excerpt coaching, and more. Public speaking, technique, and other professional skills courses will also be offered to participants.
Open to violinists of any age, the application calls for a recording of the first movement of a major/standard concerto or a piece of equivalent length and difficulty. Applicants 14 and over will be eligible for resident student status.
