Applications Closing to 2025 Mirecourt International Violin Competition

Open to violinists aged under 26, the competition will be held from November 1–9, 2025

Created to promote young artists as well as French music, lutherie, and bow making, France’s biennial Mirecourt International Violin Competition is now entering its eighth edition.

Open to violinists of all nationalities under the age of 26 (born after November 1, 1999,) the 2025 competition will take place in Mirecourt, France, from November 1 to 9.

The final round will see finalists perform with the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Lorraine and conductor Clément Lonca at the Rotonde in Thaon-Les-Vosges. This concert will stream live here on The Violin Channel.

First Prize will be awarded with €5,000; Second Prize is €3,000; and Third Prize is €1,000.

The top prize winner will also perform recitals at the opening of the International Violin Competition of Mirecourt 2027, at the Paris “Jeunes Talents” season, and at the “Musique Espérance” series in Saint-Dié. Another engagement includes a concert with the Ensemble Orchestral Épinal la Belle Image.

More competition prizes include the Special Bow Makers’ Prize with a modern bow offered by La Venotte and the Jeunesses Musicales de Mirecourt; as well as the Special Prizes for the Best Interpretation of the Contemporary Piece and for the Best Interpretation of the French Sonata — each awarded with €300.

Additionally, the winner of the Special Prize for Contemporary Violin Making will receive a two-year loan of a violin crafted by Léa Trombert.
