Applications Open for 2020 Geneva International Cello Competition [APPLY]
*UPDATED* Applications for the 2020 Geneva International Cello Competition have been extended to June 15th
Applications are now open for the 2020 Geneva International Cello Competition – to be held in Geneva from the 23rd of October to the 5th of November, 2020.
Open to international cellists 30 years of age and younger, the 1st prize winner will receive CHF 20,000.
"Due to the situation of global emergency caused by the coronavirus, the Geneva Competition has decided to extend the registration deadline for this year’s Cello Competition to 15 June - and to adjust conditions of application ..." Event organizer Didier Schnorhk has told The Violin Channel.
"Although it is extremely difficult to predict how long this situation will last, we hope that extending the registration deadline and adjusting the program required for the application video to include solo pieces only, will enable a maximum of young cellists to apply for the competition," he has said.
The 2020 jury will comprise: Ivan Monighetti (Chairman) Lluis Claret, Thomas Demenga, Michaela Fukačová, Ophélie Gaillard, Qin Li-Wei and Shauna Rolston.
In light of the current economic situation, the competition has also reduced the application fee from CHF 250 to CHF 100.
Previous 1st prize winners include: István Várdai [PICTURED].
Applications to be received by the 15th of June, 2020.
