Applications Open for Colburn School's 2024 Sounding Point Academy
Based in Los Angeles, the two week program is open to violinists of all ages looking to further their knowledge and performance skills
The Sounding Point Academy, founded by Robert Lipsett and Fabiola Kim, serves to nurture the next generation of soloists, chamber musicians, orchestral musicians, and pedagogies. The program will take place at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, California, from June 3 – 15, 2024.
Applications are now open for the two-week in-person program which will cover all facets of violin playing — including masterclasses with world-leading artists, lessons, orchestra excerpt coaching, and more. Public speaking, technique, and other professional skills courses will also be offered to participants.
Applications are to be received by 5 PM (PT) on March 31, 2024.
Open to violinists of any age, the application calls for a recording of the first movement of a major/standard concerto or a piece of equivalent length and difficulty. Applicants 14 and over will be eligible for resident student status.
This year's faculty members will include Robert Lipsett, Fabiola Kim, David Halen, Danielle Belen, Eugene Watanabe, and Simon James.
Guest artist appearances will be made by Endre Granat, Nathan Cole, Blake Pouliot, and Debby Devine.
