Applications Closing for Sphinx Performance Academy
The full-scholarship intensive summer chamber music and solo performance program is open to Black and Latinx string musicians aged 11–17
Focused on cultural diversity, the Sphinx Performance Academy (SPA) encourages students from cultural backgrounds that are underrepresented in the classical music field to apply for the program.
The SPA provides lessons, masterclasses, recital performances, career enrichment sessions, and mentorship from industry professionals, tailored to each student.

SPA has regularly partnered with the Juilliard School and the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) to deliver its programs, and for Summer 2023, has announced the University of Colorado Boulder — College of Music (CU Boulder) as a new host partner.
Students will have the opportunity to join any of the three schools for the program. SPA CU Boulder College of Music will be held from June 22 – July 2, 2023; SPA Juilliard from July 8 – 21, 2023; and SPA CIM from July 23 – August 5, 2023.
The three schools and their professors will focus on chamber orchestra and solo repertoire for violin, viola, and cello. Julliard will also offer mentorship for double bass.
Accepted SPA candidates will receive a full scholarship to the program, including room and board. Students are responsible for transportation to and from SPA, with ground transportation available for those flying without a parent or guardian.
