Applications Open for the 2023 International Violin Bridge Competition
The competition celebrates the craftsmanship of luthiers
Registrations recently opened for the 2023 edition of the International Violin Bridge Competition. The competition celebrates the most aesthetically beautiful bridges of the violin family, and puts the spotlight on the craftsmanship of luthiers.
The competition accepts applications for the categories of violin, viola, cello, and miscellaneous. In each category, the judges will assign Gold, Silver, and discretionary Merit awards.
The jury will be comprised of Roberto Regazzi (Italy), Michael Darnton (USA), Ewen Thompson (Shetland Islands), Ralph Plumb (England), and Gerard Kilbride (Wales) — as well as a guest judge who will be announced closer to the time.
The jury will be examining the workmanship, material choices, branding/stamp, usability, design, finish, overall appearance, visual balance, and symmetry of each bridge.
Registrations should be received by September 2023, and you can register, here.
