Applications Open for The Colburn School's Music Academy
The Los Angeles-based school provides pre-college training to dedicated young performers
In addition to its Conservatory of Music, the Colburn School's Music Academy offers pre-college training to young musicians looking to become professional musicians.
The Music Academy is focused on expanding students’ musical knowledge and performance abilities, in preparation for post-secondary study.
The curriculum includes private instruction with top faculty, studio classes and chamber music, music theory and history, and ear training, as well as enrichment studies in career development and personal presentation skills.
Students perform regularly, both on campus and throughout Los Angeles, and participate in master classes. Alumni have gone on to study at top music schools, including Juilliard, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Colburn Conservatory of Music.
Instruction and activities take place outside of standard school hours, and students must complete their state-mandated academic education requirements through an external school.
To apply, the Music Academy requires you to submit basic biographical information, pre-screening videos, a resume, and a letter of recommendation. Now accepting applications for the 2023-24 school year, the application deadline is January 10, 2023. Find more information here.
