Applications Open for the Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition

The Elmar Oliveira International Violin Competition (EOIVC), a flagship program of the Elevar Foundation, has opened submissions for the 2023 edition. Online applications will be open until September 29, 2022.  

To be held from January 15 – January 29, 2023, in Boca Raton, Florida, the EOIVC is only the second competition of its kind solely dedicated to the violin that is based in the United States.

Open to ages 16-32, the competition will offer four cash prizes. First prize winner will receive $30,000; second $15,000; third $10,000; and honorable mention $5,000. The first prize winner will also receive career support in the areas of management and public relations, performance opportunities with orchestras and festivals across the US, an instrument and bow crafted by some of the world’s finest artisans, and a Musafia case.

The EOIVC will provide all competitors who advance to the quarter-final round a reimbursement of up to $150 for domestic and $300 for international roundtrip travel to and from the competition — as well as hotel accommodations while competing. 

Out of the EOIVC 2023 candidates, a maximum of 20 quarter-finalists will be chosen from the online submissions. 

The quarter-finalists will compete in three rounds from January 15-29, 2023, with the final round taking place at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center on Lynn’s campus.

Music Director and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa will lead the Lynn Philharmonia and the four finalists in the two concerts, which are ticketed events and are open to the public.

For this competition, works by four living composers will be featured including Jessie Montgomery, Gabriela Lena Frank, Christopher Theofanidis, and Thomas McKinley. More information on repertoire can be found here.
