Applications Open to Kronberg Academy's 2024 Cello Masterclass

Held in Kronberg, Germany, the initiative gives students the opportunity to learn from some of the world's most renowned cello pedagogues

Applications are now open for the Kronberg Academy's Cello Masterclasses for 2024. Held every second year, the masterclasses are open to ambitious cello students aged 28 or under, and in 2024 the classes will run between 22 and 30 September.

Cellists will get the opportunity to learn from artists such as Marie-Elisabeth Hecker (students aged 12-17 only), Frans Helmerson, Jens Peter Maintz, Phillipe Muller, and Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt. Each student will be offered up to three tuition sessions, and will get to meet other young cellists from around the world.

The masterclasses are also run in parallel with the Kronberg Festival. There, participants can attend concerts given by artists such as Jean-Guihen Queyras, Anastasia Kobekina, Julia Hagen, Kian Soltani, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and others.

Applications open on March 11, 2024, and the application deadline is June 10, 2024.

To be considered an active participant, students will also need to complete a live audition — which will be held on September 23 (upon arrival in Germany). Those students who are not accepted as active participants will be passive participants, and will have access to all masterclasses and concerts.
